Speed Dials
Speed dials let your child call a contact by pressing and holding a single digit key (1-9) on their phone. This is especially handy for younger children who may not be confident navigating a contact list yet — they just hold down a number and the call connects.
Setting up speed dials
- Go to Cups and select the cup you want to manage.
- Click Speed Dials.
- You will see 9 slots, one for each digit from 1 to 9.
- Click on an empty slot.
- Select a contact from your approved contacts list.
- The contact is now assigned to that digit.
Your child can now press and hold that number key on their phone to call the assigned contact.
Removing a speed dial
- Go to Cups and select the cup you want to manage.
- Click Speed Dials.
- Click on the assigned slot you want to clear.
- Select Clear to remove the contact from that slot.
The contact will remain in your approved contacts list — only the speed dial shortcut is removed.
Enabling and disabling speed dials
You can enable or disable individual speed dials without removing the contact assignment. This is useful if you want to temporarily restrict a contact without losing the setup. When you re-enable the speed dial, the same contact will still be assigned to that slot.
- Go to Cups and select the cup you want to manage.
- Click Speed Dials.
- Toggle the switch next to the speed dial slot you want to enable or disable.
Tips for setting up speed dials
- Assign the most important contacts to the lowest digits. Putting mum on 1, dad on 2, and grandparents on 3 and 4 makes it easy for your child to remember.
- Talk your child through their speed dials so they know which number calls which person.
- You can only assign contacts that are already on your approved contacts list. If you do not see someone in the list, add them as a contact first.
