Friend Codes
Friend codes are a simple way for two Papercup cups to become friends. When a friend code is redeemed, both cups automatically get each other as approved contacts -- so both children can call each other right away. It's great for playdates and school friends who also have Papercup phones.
Generating a friend code
- Go to Cups and select your child's cup.
- Tap Friends.
- Tap Generate Friend Code.
- A unique 8-character code will be created. This code is valid for 24 hours.
- Share the code with the other child's parent (by text, email, or in person).
Redeeming a friend code
If another parent has shared a friend code with you:
- Go to Cups and select your child's cup.
- Tap Friends.
- Tap Redeem Code.
- Enter the 8-character code and confirm.
Once redeemed, both cups are connected. Your child can call their friend, and their friend can call your child -- it's a two-way connection set up in one step.
Removing a friend
If you need to remove a friend connection:
- Go to Cups and select your child's cup.
- Tap Friends.
- Find the friend you want to remove and remove them.
Removing a friend removes the connection on both sides. Neither child will be able to call the other after the friend is removed.
Good to know
- Codes expire after 24 hours. If a code expires before it's redeemed, just generate a new one.
- It's two-way. One code connects both cups. The other parent does not need to generate a separate code.
- Siblings are automatic. Cups that belong to the same family are automatically connected as siblings, so you don't need a friend code for brothers and sisters.
